If you’re interested in a simple design, a full range of functions and enhanced safety at night, then you may want to consider the Commuter-Daypack High-Vis. The PVC-free, reflective Cordura yarn has the look and feel of a fine fabric despite the fact that it’s 100% waterproof and offers an enhanced degree of safety. This interwoven yarn is highly reflective as soon as it is struck by a motorist’s headlights. The effect is amplified by the fact that the high-luminosity yarn is interwoven across the entire daypack, including the shoulder straps. As a result, you’re afforded 360° protection at night and in twilight or bad-weather conditions. The likelihood that motorists, pedestrians and other cyclists will detect you in traffic is significantly increased. This urban daypack is ideal for students and other bike commuters who are up and on the road early on dark winter mornings or who return home on dark winter evenings. The practical roll closure and hook enable quick access to the daypack’s spacious interior, which is also outfitted with a padded compartment for a notebook or tablet. The soft, but softener-free back padding made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and the ergonomic shoulder straps ensure a good fit and carrying comfort. The detachable chest and waist belts offer additional stability.

How do the different Commuter Daypack models differ?

All ORTLIEB daypacks share the same functional and waterproof interior layout but differ in material, volume, and back system.
The Commuter Daypack and the Urban variant are available in 21 and 27 liters. They feature a ventilated foam-padded back system that ensures stability and everyday carrying comfort. The other models use a TPU back pad with ventilation channels. This rests especially softly against the back and provides additional comfort, particularly on longer routes.
The outer material also varies: The Urban material has a textured, textile look and feel, while the High-Vis version is made of reflective fabric for maximum visibility in road traffic.
The Daypack Metrosphere is designed as an elegant business version. Its smooth, premium material and the additional external address compartment make it an ideal companion for travel or office use.

What size should my backpack be?

If you’re unsure, choose the 27-liter backpack. The extra storage space is barely noticeable while riding and offers more flexibility, especially during the cooler season when you carry additional clothing or groceries.
If you need less storage and prefer a slim, compact backpack, the 21-liter version is the better choice for you.
