Rack-Pack

The Rack-Pack is a versatile all-purpose bag with up to 31 liters of volume and, like the Duffle RC, features a roll closure. It gets its name from the ability to combine it directly on the luggage rack with ORTLIEB Back-Rollers or Sport-Rollers. Duffles, on the other hand, are larger travel bags with padded shoulder straps that can also be comfortably worn as a backpack.

The Rack-Pack is manufactured in Heilsbronn, Germany, standing for genuine “Made in Germany” quality. Every production step, from material cutting to final inspection, takes place in our own facilities. Materials are sourced locally, regionally, or internationally according to strict requirements. Our high standards for raw materials extend the product’s lifespan and conserve resources.

ORTLIEB products are extremely robust because we use high-quality materials and permanently weld all seams. This eliminates the need for stitching or bonding, and all connections are at least as strong as the material itself. If something does get damaged, holes can be safely rewelded by us or by our authorized service partners.

The Rack-Pack is designed for longevity and often accompanies you for decades. To give you peace of mind regarding durability, we offer a five-year warranty on materials and workmanship. If the Rack-Pack does get damaged, almost every component from straps to buckles can be repaired. Even if a model is no longer produced, spare parts remain available for at least ten years.

How ORTLIEB products can be repaired

The Rack-Pack is waterproof according to protection class IP64. This rating indicates:

The product is dust-tight and protected against splashing water from all directions. Even in very heavy rain and splashing water, the contents stay perfectly dry. The Rack-Pack is therefore ideal for longer outdoor adventures in stormy conditions.

Pack heavy items at the bottom and lighter ones on top. To avoid wrinkles in your clothes, you can simply roll them to save space or use small organizers like Packing Cubes. These help you structure the large main compartment even better and compress folded clothing.

That depends on how long you are traveling and how much you want to take with you. Here is a quick orientation:

30 L: Ideal for weekend trips or short business travel. Typical carry-on size for flights.
40 L: Suitable for 3-4 day trips. Fits roughly as much as a full laundry basket.
60 L: Perfect for one-week trips or sports gear. Comparable in space to a standard moving box.
80 L: Holds about the same as two full laundry baskets. Suitable for one to two weeks of travel or trips with varying climates.
110 L: Designed for multi-week trips, expeditions, or extensive outdoor equipment. Offers space for tent, sleeping bag, and clothing.
